My Private Member’s Bill (C-391) to end Canada's long-gun registry passed an important vote on November 4, 2009, in the House of Commons.
I am very pleased that a majority of Members of Parliament stood and signaled that they would no longer support the wasteful and ineffective long-gun registry.
I gratefully acknowledge the unanimous support of my Conservative colleagues for my bill, as well as the support of those Opposition Members who joined the Conservative caucus in passing Bill C-391.
There is a lot of work left to be done. Bill C-391 will be reintroduced at the committee stage for further study once the House resumes in March. I look forward to continuing to advance this bill.
